Criada por Chuck Lorre, a série conta a história de dois brilhantes físicos que vivem juntos, são nerds e têm problemas de relacionamentos pessoais. Um dos seus hobbies é rever a segunda temporada de Battlestar Galáctica, mas agora com os comentários. Na primeira cena do piloto estamos diante dos amigos numa clinica para vender esperma para poderem aumentar a velocidade da banda larga. Após uma discussão com diversos argumentos absurdos, resolvem não aceitar o dinheiro e reivindicam os seus “produtos”. De volta ao prédio onde moram, chegam ao andar do seu apartamento e dão de cara com a nova vizinha, uma loira espectacularmente bela (Cuoco). Resolvem convidá-la para comerem algo juntos e a série segue assim com o convívio dos dois, a vizinha e os seus amigos nerds. Os dois nerds acabam por descobrir que não sabem muito sobre a vida.
